Back Rests and Lumbar Supports
Often on a long trip in the car, we really notice just how lacking in back support our car seats are. There are products available that aim to improve our seated posture, whether it be in a car seat, on our lounge or even a dining table.
All of the products featured on this page are designed to increase the lumbar curve, maintaining the lumbar discs in better positioning.
Therapod Back Insert
Therapod have available a back rest that provides the same
features
as their ergonomic office chairs. The back support is adjustable, allowing
for individual adjustment to suit everyone. The backrest is available in two
sizes, medium and high back, the high back has an option neck rest and there
is now a heavy duty cover offering improved wear of fabric. I personally use
the high back Therapod with a 4WD vehicle and cannot recommend it more highly.
Another excellent product which is a favourite of customers.The Obus Back Support
The Obus Back support is also an adjustable back support, with a lumbar roll which attaches with velcro. The lumbar roll is positioned to provide support and improve lumbar posture. Also available in medium and high back and also now a wide back model. Another excellent product.
Bassett Lumbar Support
The Bassett Lumbar Support is a metal frame with mesh cover. It provides lumbar support in a lightweight product. The mesh cover can be replaced and covers are also available, as back pocket buttons have a tendency to get caught in the mesh. A cost effective product designed by an Occupational Therapist.
Lumbar Rolls
There are a variety of foam rolls available that usually have an elastic belt and are made to fit behind the lumbar spine area to again provide support where needed. We have available a number of different foams and shapes, such as cylindrical, d shaped, peanut shape which suit different people. Please ring or email for current stock and pricing.
Seat Wedge / Seats
Also available is a foam seat wedge and seat section for the Orthorest and Obus Back Supports.
All products aim to provide improved comfort for the seat, with the wedge aimed at providing pelvic tilt, again, aimed at improving lumbar spine curve.
The Therapod seat is curved aiming at distributing body weight more evenly.
